Hawaii – Oahu- Honolulu Part 1

Hawaii TripOur latest travel experience was to Hawaii! My husband and I were planning a road trip to the  Southern States, but instead ended up finding an amazing deal on flights to Hawaii, so I planned a mini 2 week road trip in Hawaii instead!  During this trip we explored the Island of Oahu, and the Big Island.  My favourite island was the  Big Island. There is so many amazing things to do and see!  Here is a little breakdown of our mini road trip. I have included helpful traveler tips on what to do, where to stay and how to save money while traveling!

Other recommendations for this island is to visit Waikiki Beach, shopping, try out some of the amazing restaurants, and lastly we did want to try Haiku Stairs , the pictures and reviews online are amazing but it is a hit and miss with it being apparently heavily guarded at times, and the weather can change quite frequently. But still on our list of things to do!

We started our Hawaiian adventure in Honolulu on the Island of Oahu, we only spent a few days on this island because we wanted to spend most of our road trip on the Big Island.  Here’s a few pictures from our stay in Honolulu.

The picture below was where we stayed for our first night in Honolulu. (**Traveler tip**) Instead of always staying in some fancy over priced hotel, which in Hawaii almost every hotel is way overpriced! try renting a home or shared accommodation.  Don’t get me wrong I do like a nice hotel stay, but if you intend to stay for a long period of time try checking out sites like Airbnb, Homeaway, or any others.  We booked all of our stays with Airbnb.  I found it really easy, and such great places to choose from, and the best part is you SAVE MONEY, we will defiantly be using them again in the future!

Diamond Head State Park, it was a great hike and had amazing views of the island.  We learned the trail to the summit was built as part of Oahu’s coastal defense system.  When you get to the top, you can see little military bunkers stationed all around, built into the crater.Diamond Head State Park

We also went to Pearl Harbor, we were glad we spent the time to come here! we learned a great deal. (**Traveler Tip**) If you go in the morning you can get free tickets, they give out a certain amount of  free tickets each day.  We spent a good couple hours here just wandering around, paying our respects.)
